Car Seat Safety Program

Motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children in the U.S.  Many of these deaths can be prevented.  Placing children in age- and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats reduces serious and fatal injuries by more than half.  Child safety seats reduce the risk of death in passenger cars by 71% for infants, and by 54% for toddlers’ ages 1 to 4 years.  Parents should always follow the car seat manufacturer's instructions and vehicle owner's manual on how to properly install child safety seats.  Florence Fire/EMS Department has trained technicians available for residents of the City of Florence and Florence Fire Protection District.  The technicians will inspect car seat installations and help ensure they are installed properly.
