Water Maintenance Worker
 

The City of Florence is accepting applications for a full-time Water Maintenance Worker.  The successful applicant will have a solid work history, demonstrate flexibility and be able to work independently.  Must be able to work in all weather conditions. The applicant should have the abilities to perform maintenance on the water distribution system including use of heavy equipment and basic hand tools. Must have a high school diploma or GED and be able to obtain a CDL.  Hours are Monday through Friday 7am – 3:30pm.  Salary $40,934.  Excellent benefit package.  Deadline June 16, 2017. Part-Time Receptionist


The City of Florence, Kentucky is accepting applications for the position of PT Receptionist within its Fire/EMS Department. The positions primary responsibilities include greeting visitors, sorting mail, record keeping, generating reports as well as other clerical skills. High School diploma or equivalent experience required. Must have basic computer skills including word-processing, spreadsheet and data-base management. Compensation to be $13.00 per hour. Workdays are M-F 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Seasonal Maintenance Worker

The City of Florence Public Services Department is accepting applications for seasonal Maintenance Workers.  The applicant must be able to work in all weather conditions and be able to contribute to a team as well as work independently at times.  The compensation is $10 per hour Monday through Friday from 7am-3:30pm.  The applicant will be eligible to work this position for 6 consecutive months.

Event Internship Position
 
The City of Florence Community Services Division has an internship opportunity available for a student in the Leisure Service Industry to work with the Community Events Coordinator in area of marketing and executing city events, Leisure Services and municipal operations.
Interns are paid $10/hour, working a maximum of 20 hours per week generally coinciding with a college semester and summer schedule but can be modified with approval. Community Event Coordinator
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbent reports to the Event Coordinator and is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, promotion, execution and evaluation the City-wide events conducted and recreational facilities within the City of Florence. Implement the mission and vision for Florence Parks, Recreation and Events through planned events.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Assist in the planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of City of Florence’s recreational events.
 Develop and execute strategies to market and publicize city recreational events and facilities.
 Promote the City’s facilities (aquatic center, skate park, neighborhood parks, park trails, park shelters & the Florence Nature Park Gathering House) to increase participation.
 Promote healthy lifestyles by encouraging use of the City’s park trails.
 Assist in soliciting Sponsorships for events from local businesses and civic organizations.
 Develop partnerships with local businesses, organizations and community groups to support City events.
 Conduct assessments and evaluations of the city’s rental facilities from users.
 Attendance at City events.
 Available to work irregular hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
 Supervise volunteers at City events.
 Represent the City of Florence in planning meetings and at event site setup.
 Performs other duties as assigned.
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university in a Leisure Services, marketing or public relations curriculum having completed a minimum two years of basic Leisure Studies, marketing, public relations or tourism field of study. Individual must be able to apply classroom theory to daily practical experiences. Possess a valid driver’s license.
 
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:
 Must be familiar with municipal operations.
 Fulfill the requirements of the college or university’s internship goals and objectives.
 Able to meet deadlines.
 Work on multiple projects at one time.
 Ability to work independently and as a team player.
 Willingness to work with diverse personalities.
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
 Must have good communication skills both oral and written.
 Able to make decisions when issues are encountered and resolve complaints.
 Accept constructive evaluation of job performance.
