Message from the Chief
A Message from Scott Knoll – Fire/EMS Chief
Since our founding in 1936, Florence Fire/EMS has striven to develop its solid reputation for serving the community members of the City of Florence and the surrounding Florence Fire Protection District. From fire suppression and emergency medical services, to rescue and hazardous materials response, the department works diligently to meet the changing needs of our community.
Our department is comprised of 63 career personnel, 2 full time civilian and one part-time personnel. All of our firefighters are cross-trained as either EMT-Basic or EMT- Paramedics. In addition to emergency operations, we also provide other services such as community risk reduction, fire and life safety inspections, code compliance and enforcement, and public education. The department maintains an ISO rating of Class 2 for the city proper and most areas within the fire protection district. Some outlying areas maintain a Class 3 rating. An ISO Class 2 rating in only awarded to the top one half of 1% of fire departments across the entire nation.
We hope you find the information contained within the Fire/EMS section of the City of Florence website helpful and that it provides you with an insight into our department and its operations. Please reach out if you have any questions.
