Florence Fire/EMS Citizen Academy Now Accepting Applications

06/26/2025

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a firefighter or emergency medical responder? The City of Florence is excited to announce the Florence Fire/EMS Citizen Academy, an engaging, hands-on program designed to give community members a behind-the-scenes look at fire and emergency services.

This year’s Citizen Academy will run for eight weeks, from September 8 through October 27, with classes held on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 8101 Dream Street. Participants will gain firsthand experience in various aspects of fire and EMS operations, including firefighting and rescue techniques, emergency medical services, fire safety and prevention, apparatus operations, and live demonstrations.

The program is open to Florence residents, business owners, and community members who are 18 years of age or older and have a desire to learn more about the work of our Fire/EMS professionals. Spots are limited, so early application is encouraged.

To apply, please complete the online application and return it to Fire Marshal, Randy Childress at randy.childress@florence-ky.gov.

For more information or assistance, contact the Florence Fire/EMS Department at 859-647-5660.
