A Note from Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon, Mayor
Welcome to Florence, Kentucky.
As the Mayor of Northern Kentucky’s leading city for shopping, entertainment, business and diverse housing options, it is my pleasure to welcome you to my hometown. I represent a team of over 250 dedicated employees that work tirelessly to deliver top-notch city services, offer bountiful recreation opportunities and ensure safe neighborhoods. Our city and its friendly residents welcome you, but it’s our infamous water tower that will always remind you just exactly where you are. You’re right here in “Florence Y’all” and we’re so glad you came.
The members of City Council and I are excited to share all Florence has to offer. Everyone at the City of Florence is here to serve our residents, businesses and visitors.
My family calls Florence our home. As a mother, I love our family friendly community. I encourage you to join me and take in a baseball game watching our professional team, the Florence Y’alls or visit our Florence Aquatic Center. Our city provides nearly 170 acres of greenspace and parks. And if you’re looking for some more adult entertainment, head to Turfway Park Racing and Gaming or the multiple restaurant options for a night on the town.
As a small business owner, I can attest that Florence is a great place to do business. We are the center of retail and commerce for Northern Kentucky with around 2000 businesses in our city. The City of Florence has a diverse economy that continually sees new to the market retailers. Further, Florence also has experienced growth in manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, e-commerce and technology sectors.
As a public servant for 24 years, as a city council member, and now as the Mayor, I am proud of our fiscally conservative approach to government spending and low tax rate. Our city provides top-notch services such as police and fire protection, snow removal, street maintenance and leaf collection.
Florence is truly at the intersection between the past and the future. We’re a place where family fun meets nightlife. We’re the crossroads between urban Cincinnati to the north and the country-sides to the south. Florence is the junction where our retail sector remains strong, but our e-commerce support businesses continue to grow. We join residents from senior housing facilities, single family residential communities and a wide variety of multi-family housing options to form one united community.
And our water tower reminds us that this is our town, where it all comes together. That’s what it means to be Florence “Y’all”.
I am proud to serve as Mayor of this community!
