Book & Literacy Festival - February 23-24, 2024

Get ready for a literary extravaganza as the City of Florence hosts their first Book & Literacy Festival. This celebration of literature promises an unforgettable experience for book enthusiasts of all ages.

Families are in for a treat with a variety of engaging activities designed just for kids during the Friday and Saturday youth programs. Youth programming will include story time by the Boone County Public Library and their mobile innovation lab demonstration and activity, Dr. Seuss Children’s activity, bookmark making, author story time and activity with Amanda Driscoll and Stacy Schilling and The Hungry, Hungry Bookworm Puppet Show. Start a love for books early on!

Kick off the weekend Friday evening with our special "Books and Bottles Event" at 6:00 p.m. at the Florence Nature Park Event Center, 7200 Nature Park Drive, Florence. Immerse yourself in the world of words while enjoying a delightful selection of beverages and treats. It will be the perfect setting to discuss your favorite reads with fellow book lovers. Connect with the brilliant minds including the featured keynote speakers, Claire E. Parsons and Mirsada Kadiric.

Adult programing on Saturday includes an author panel discussion, “Books, Bibs and Beyond” by Delta Kappa Gamma – Zeta Chapter, author meet and greet with Hal McFarland, Hallie Lee, Michelle Bennington, Lynn Slaughter, Brad Asher, Robert Schrage, Ben Naas, Lynda Rees, Robert Webster and Jim Claypool, and community resources.

Remember to bring your pre-loved books for our exciting free Book Swap event. Exchange your favorite stories with fellow attendees, discovering new worlds and sharing the joy of reading. A great way to refresh your bookshelf.

This two-day event you do not want to miss! Join us at the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Blvd., Florence, Kentucky from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for a weekend filled with literary magic. Whether you are a seasoned bibliophile or introducing your family to the wonders of reading, the City of Florence Book & Literacy Festival has something for everyone.
