Fleet Maintenance

 

The City of Florence Fleet Maintenance Division maintains 159 vehicles and 96 pieces of equipment. 64 vehicles and 96 pieces of equipment are maintained for the Public Services Department, 73 vehicles  for the Police Department, 19 vehicles for the Fire Department and 2 vehicles for the Administration Department.

The Fleet Maintenance Division is responsible for preventive maintenance checks and services of City fleet, vehicle and equipment repairs, vehicle and equipment specifications for the Public Service Department, detailing all Public Services vehicles and equipment yearly, managing the City fueling services, installation and calibration of equipment, research and acquisition of new vehicles and equipment, retirement of old vehicles and equipment and maintaining a sufficient parts inventory.

All departments vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance checks, services and repairs are entered into the department’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (Cartegraph) to track vehicle and equipment maintenance history.

The Public Services Department receives funding from the City’s General Fund and Capital Improvement Fund. The department follows a vehicle/equipment life cycle plan and maintains a five year replacement schedule.
