Infrastructure Support Services
The City of Florence Infrastructure Support Services (I.S.S.) is responsible for the department’s administration of the city’s street network, water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system and storm water conveyance systems. I.S.S. provides project management services for all capital projects along with development oversight. Inspection services are provided on all city projects along with all major site developments.

Code Enforcement
The City of Florence Code Enforcement Division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of city ordinances, Property Maintenance Code, and Boone County Zoning Regulations throughout the city.

Sanitary and Storm Sewer System
The City of Florence sanitary sewer collection system consist of 132 miles of sanitary sewer line, 3,487 manholes and 6 pump stations. The Public Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and management of the system. The City does not own its own treatment facility; instead the City’s sewage is treated by Sanitation District No.1 (SD1) through an agreement that expires in 2028.

Drinking Water System
The City of Florence Drinking Water Distribution System consists of 153 miles of water lines, 4,164 valves, 1,636 hydrants and 8,876 metering devices. The Public Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and management of the system.

Transportation System
The City of Florence transportation system consists of over 377 streets that encompass 174 lane miles and contain over 4,423 street signs, as well as 185.4 miles of pedestrian/bike facilities. The Public Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and management of the system.
Parks and Recreation
The City of Florence Park system consist of 6 developed parks, 2 undeveloped parks, the Florence Family Aquatic Center, Florence/Boone County Skate Park, and the World of Golf complex. These facilities encompass approximately 169 acres. The parks consist of 5 shelters that can be reserved, the Nature Park Event Center, and the Evelyn Kalb Gathering House that can be rented for parties, social gathering, and weddings.

Fleet Maintenance
The City of Florence Fleet Maintenance Division maintains 159 vehicles and 96 pieces of equipment. 64 vehicles and 96 pieces of equipment are maintained for the Public Services Department, 73 vehicles for the Police Department, 19 vehicles for the Fire Department and 2 vehicles for the Administration Department.

Building Maintenance
The City of Florence Building Maintenance Division maintains 26 buildings encompassing 240,703 square feet and 593 pieces of equipment. The Building Maintenance Division is responsible for capital improvement projects, preventive maintenance, inspections, building services and repairs, building renovations, equipment services and repairs, winterization of equipment, snow removal from sidewalks at the Government Center, State Building, Nature Park Event Center, and Kalb Gathering House and any regulatory compliance associated with the buildings and equipment.

The City of Florence Ground Maintenance Division maintains 182 acres of finish mowed grass and 175,548 square foot of landscape beds.
